Premier seeks more cooperation with IBM

Premier Li Keqiang met with Virginia Rometty, CEO of the International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) in Beijing on Oct 22.

He spoke highly of IBM’s cooperation with China and expressed hopes that the American company could tap potential in cooperation of research and development. Noting China’s huge demands for information technology, he encouraged IBM to grasp opportunities such as “Made in China 2025” and “Internet Plus” - initiatives launched by the Chinese government to boost the economy - to provide better products and technology to China.

The Premier also said China is promoting a higher level opening up in an effort to create a more convenient business environment for domestic and foreign companies. The government hopes these companies could achieve win-win cooperation and make a contribution to the Chinese and world economies.

Rometty said IBM is ready to further cooperate with China in the high-tech field and make its own effort to promote the development of China’s information technology to satisfy market demands of China and the world.
