Original Title: Premier Li meets South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa
Premier Li Keqiang met South African Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa in Beijing on July 14 and lauded ties between the two nations.
The Premier said both China and South Africa are big developing countries, and bilateral relations are built on mutual respect, exchanges and equal treatment.
After the meeting between the two nations’ leaders during the recent BRICS summit, he noted, China would like to continue to promote political trust, deepen economic cooperation, and improve communication in global and regional affairs.
Premier Li said China’s ties with South Africa will set an example for South-South cooperation, especially in safeguarding world peace and promoting regional development.
He said their economies are highly complementary and prospects for cooperation are broad.
As South Africa has pledged to promote industrialization and infrastructure construction, the Premier said China is willing to expand cooperation in industrial capacity, especially in the manufacture of steel, construction materials and consumption goods in which China has advanced technology and offers good prices.
He said China is also willing to explore third markets with South Africa in the nuclear power sector, as well as collaborate in the development of ports and oil and gas resources as well as in coastal waters and fisheries.
Ramaphosa said that South Africa attaches great strategic importance to relations with China and is willing to learn from China’s experience in industrialization and the building of special economic zones.
He said his government has pledged to promote cooperation with China in industrial collaboration, maritime economy and energy development and South Africa welcomes Chinese investors.
